Friends,
I try to avoid spamming you throughout the week, but sometimes I have announcements that don’t fit easily into a prefatory note.
The first is that I’m launching a coaching and editing business. If you are a regular reader of this series, you likely share some of my craft sensibilities. It would be an honor to work with you on projects large or small.
The main services I’m offering are these:
Coaching by the hour
I’m happy to schedule sessions as-needed or discuss longer-term partnerships.
Set up a free consultation to see if I’m a good fit for your project and to discuss pricing, including discounts for packages.
Developmental editing
I offer two options for book-length manuscripts:
A standard reading is a big-picture view of structure, style, and design.
An in-depth edit includes the big picture, but also digs into sentence-level craft.
In-depth edits for shorter works, such as essays, stories, or articles, are priced by word count.
I’m happy to discuss these options further by email or Zoom.
My current clients are working with me on the following projects:
A literary memoir about motherhood and spirituality.
A hybrid memoir about colonialism and racial justice with layers of cultural and economic history, personal narrative, and autofiction.
An op-ed for The Chronicle of Higher Education.
See my coaching website for testimonials and other details. I’m also happy for your referrals, if you know of someone who could use my help!
The Recovering Academic Book Club
Thanks to everyone who expressed interest in a virtual book club! I’m holding Thursday, August 10, from 7:30-9:00 p.m., EST for our first meeting.
Based on last month’s poll, we’re down to two possible titles: Julie Schumacher’s novel Dear Committee Members and Tara Westover’s memoir Educated. If you’d like to weigh in, I’ll share the results sometime next week.
Take care and stay tuned tomorrow for my next interview with a recovering academic, Dr. Lauren McClain of Grantibly.
Dear Committee Members for me (couldn't get the poll to work). But I'll show up for either, if I can!
You should know I'll always pick the funny!
