I'd say that 99% of my contacts on Linkedin who I trust are people I've interacted with in 'real life'. And you're right -- I was thinking of this just a few days ago in fact -- the way people behave in ordinary situations says an awful lot about them. I can think of two people who asked me if I'd work with them, and when I saw how they treated people they regarded as beneath them I quietly allowed the matter to drop.
